Some trips stay with you—not because you rushed through attractions, but because you enjoyed every moment at your own pace.
Our trip to Singapore was exactly that.
We didn’t try to do everything. Instead, we focused on keeping our days slow, comfortable, and kid-friendly—and that made all the difference.
First Impressions
We landed early in Singapore, and instead of rushing out, we took it slow—resting a bit at the airport before heading to our hotel. The airport itself made this really easy, with plenty of seating areas and comfortable sofas. We actually let the kids sleep there for a couple of hours so they could wake up fresh- something that worked really well after an early flight.
We stayed at Swissotel in the Marina Bay area, which turned out to be a great base for exploring the city.
That first day set the tone for the trip: no rush, no pressure
Day-by-Day Experience
Day 1: A Gentle Start
After checking in, we headed to the Art Science Museum.
We didn’t try to pack the day—just walked around, soaked in the surroundings, and headed back early.
Looking back, this was the perfect way to start.

Day 2: Gardens by the Bay (A Full, Beautiful Day)
We dedicated the entire day to Gardens by the Bay—and it was absolutely worth it.
We explored:
- Cloud Forest
- Flower Dome
- Floral Fantasy
The kids spent a good amount of time at the Children’s Garden, and by evening, we watched the Garden Rhapsody light show.
This was one of the highlights of the trip.

Day 3: The Most Hectic Day
We planned a full wildlife day and tried covering:
- Singapore Zoo
- Bird Paradise
- River Wonders
- Rainforest Wild Asia
- Night Safari Singapore
And honestly?
It was too much for one day.
While the experiences were great, the day felt rushed and tiring—especially with kids.

What I Learned
Bird Paradise can be skipped if traveling with kids under 10.
Locating birds takes time, many look similar to kids, and the large walking area can make it tiring and less engaging for them.
The overall area is quite expansive, so expect a lot of walking.
Buggies and strollers are available on rent at both the Singapore Zoo and Bird Paradise, which can be very helpful for younger kids.
If I were to plan again, I would skip Bird Paradise and keep Rainforest Wild Asia optional, focusing only on the most engaging parks for kids.
Day 4: Slowing Down Again
After the hectic day, we intentionally kept things relaxed.
We visited the Singapore Botanic Gardens and explored the National Orchid Garden.
We had planned to visit Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden, but it was closed (Monday) — so we went to Como Adventure Grove instead, which wasn’t very impressive.
The highlight of the day?
Marina Barrage Water Playground—the kids absolutely loved it. And the best part – it’s completely free, making it a great addition to your itinerary without adding extra cost.
We also spent some time just sitting and watching ships in the distance, which turned out to be surprisingly relaxing.
We ended the day with dinner at Little India, craving some familiar Indian food.

Day 5: Sentosa Fun
This was a fun-filled day.
We visited:
- S.E.A. Aquarium
- Adventure Cove Waterpark
Later, we took the cable car ride and spent some time exploring Sensoryscape.
A perfect mix of fun and experience

Day 6: A Unique Stay + Jewel Changi
We moved to an airport hotel (Crowne Plaza) for our last night as we had early morning flight to catch—and this turned out to be a great decision.
We booked a runway view room, and watching planes land was a completely different experience for the kids.
In the evening, we explored Jewel Changi Airport:
- Rain Vortex
- Canopy Park + Canopy Bridge
- Discovery slides, Foggy bowls, Topiary Garden and more
A perfect way to end the trip

Day 7: Heading Back
We had an early morning flight, so the day started quite early.
But staying at an airport hotel made a huge difference- the terminal was just a 5-minute walk away, which made the entire departure process smooth and stress-free.
Even with an early flight, not having to worry about transport made things much easier with kids.
What Worked Really Well
- Starting our days late (around 11:30–12)
- Mixing busy days with relaxed ones
- Not overpacking every single day
- Including play areas for kids
What I Would Do Differently
- Not attempt all wildlife parks in one day
- Skip Como Adventure Grove
- Add more buffer time in Sentosa
Final Thoughts
Singapore is incredibly easy to travel with kids—but what really made this trip special was how we planned it.
We gave ourselves time to rest, explore, and just enjoy—without chasing a checklist.
And that’s what made it memorable
